Lemon Split (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an expense-splitting app that lets you create groups, record shared expenses, and settle up with friends. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and your choices.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, profile picture URL, and Google account ID. We use this to create your account and identify you to other members of your groups.

Content you create. Data you enter to use the app, including:

Group names and descriptions
Expenses (descriptions, amounts, currency, dates, who paid, how they’re split)
Settlements (“who paid whom”)
Trip estimates you calculate

Information about people you invite. When you invite a friend by entering their name and email address, we store that so we can add them to your group and link the invite when they sign up. Only invite people who are happy to be added.

Purchase information. If you buy Lemon Split Pro, the purchase is processed by Google Play. We (via our subscriptions provider, RevenueCat) receive the purchase receipt and your account identifier so we can unlock Pro features. We never receive or store your card, UPI, or bank details — Google handles all payment information.

Technical data. Basic data needed for the app to function, such as network status. The app requests only the Internet and network state permissions. It does not access your camera, photos, contacts, or location.

We do not use advertising, and we do not include third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

2. How we use your information

To provide the core service: creating groups, splitting expenses, and settling up
To sync your data across your devices and share it with the other members of your groups
To unlock and maintain your Lemon Split Pro subscription
To keep the app secure and working correctly

3. Where your data is stored and who processes it

Your data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure and shared with a small number of service providers (“sub-processors”) strictly to run the app:

The app also keeps a local copy of your data on your device (offline cache) so it works without a connection.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the group members you choose and the providers listed above.

4. Data sharing within the app

Expense-splitting is inherently shared. Information you add to a group (expenses, amounts, who paid, settlements, and your name/avatar) is visible to the other members of that group. Only share groups with people you trust.

5. Data retention

We keep your account and group data for as long as your account is active.
Settling up: when a group is fully settled, you can archive it, which keeps a permanent compact summary (totals, who paid what, dates). Depending on your plan, the detailed line-item expenses may be replaced by that summary to save space.
You can delete individual groups at any time, which permanently removes that group and its expenses for everyone.

6. Your rights and deleting your data

You can:

Access and edit your data directly in the app.
Delete a group to permanently remove its data.
Delete your account and all associated personal data at any time from within the app: Profile → Delete account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, the groups you created, and your data. You can also request deletion by emailing us at the address above.

7. Children

Lemon Split is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted connections and access controls, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the app.
